The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virginal, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the people of the right hand 38
