The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
