The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and extended shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
