These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 And those of the left hand, how wretched are those of the left hand! 41 [They will find themselves] in the midst of scorching winds, and burning despair, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 They had been affluent before, 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 and you will drink as the lapping of thirsty camels. 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 "We are ruined, 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 It is We who have made it a means to remind [you of Us,] and a comfort for all who are lost and hungry in the wilderness [of their lives]. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
