Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
a large group of the earlier people 39 And a company of the later peoples. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 and under the shadow of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 But persisted in that greater sin, 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 Then verily ye, O ye erring, denying people. 51 you shall eat (the fruit) of the Tree of Zakkum. 52 and will have to fill your bellies therewith, 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 “We have been penalised; 66 Nay! we are deprived. 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 So what is your opinion regarding the fire which you kindle? 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 We have made it a reminder, and a blessing to the traveler. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
