Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
