Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
