The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heaven of the constellations! 1 And by the Promised Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 2 by the Witness and the witnessed, 3 Cursed were the companions of the trench 4 Of fire fuel-fed, 5 As they sat around it 6 And to that which they did to the believers were witnesses. 7 And what did they dislike from the Muslims, except that the Muslims accepted faith in Allah the Most Honourable, the Most Praiseworthy? 8 to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and earth. And Allah is the Witness of all things. 9 Verily those who affected the believing men and the believing women, and then repented not, theirs shall be the torment of Hell, and theirs shall be the torment of burning. 10 But those who believe and do good deeds shall be rewarded with gardens watered by flowing rivers. That is the supreme triumph. 11 VERILY, thy Sustainer's grip is exceedingly strong! 12 It is verily He who initiates and repeats. 13 and He is the Forgiving and Loving One. 14 Master of the Honourable Throne. 15 Doer (without let) of all that He intends. 16 Has the story reached you of the hosts, 17 Pharaoh and Thamood? 18 And yet, they who are bent on denying the truth persist in giving it the lie: 19 And Allah encompasses them from behind! (i.e. all their deeds are within His Knowledge, and He will requite them for their deeds). 20 Nay, but it is a glorious Koran, 21 upon an imperishable tablet [inscribed]. 22
