Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 And not known my account! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
