Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou enwrapped! 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 Indeed this is nothing but a Good Counsel; so let him who will take a way leading to his Lord. 19
