The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Issuing from the pelvis between the backbone and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
