Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou folded in garments! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 and endure with patience whatever people may say [against thee,] and avoid them with a comely avoidance. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
