Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In an elevated garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
