Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 Then how can you avoid the punishment, if you disbelieve, on a Day that will make the children grey-headed (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
