He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
