In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
