The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 Pollution shun! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
