The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 and defilement flee! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 scorching the flesh; 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
