He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And hath fear, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 Mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
