The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and warn 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 May he be condemned! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
