NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 a warning to humankind, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 about the sinners. 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
