No, by the moon! 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to humans, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
