The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a host of the ancients 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
