Nay, and by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to humans, 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
