Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 when the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 When legs are twisted around each other, 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
