Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 And on that Day there shall be scowling faces, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
