The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
