Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to humankind, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 like frightened donkeys 50 running away from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
