And assuredly We have created human being from ringing clay of loam moulded. 26 And the jinn, We had created them afore of the fire of the scroching wind. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 [Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled. 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
