In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great tidings! 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
