The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
