The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
