The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
