The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
