The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
