The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
