The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
