The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
