The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
