The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news - 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
