The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And the second followeth it, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
