The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
