He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble, pious. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
