The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 and gathered his people together 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
