The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
