The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
