The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
