The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
