The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
