He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 lofty and pure, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May man be slain - how ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. 22 Not one - he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
